On Friday, May 8th, the IRS announced that time is running out to submit direct deposit information in order to receive your economic impact payment (stimulus check) electronically. If a taxpayer has not had a tax refund direct deposited from the IRS for their 2018 or 2019 tax returns, the taxpayer can submit his or her direct deposit information on the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website.
The deadline for submitting this information is noon on Wednesday, May 13. After this date, any economic impact payments that have not already been processed by the IRS will be sent as paper checks. The IRS estimated that these checks will begin arriving to taxpayers in late May or early June. It is important to note that this is the estimated arrival date for the first wave of checks and it could take significantly longer for some checks to be sent to taxpayers.
